Over 30 brethren recently gathered at Cleveleys Masonic Hall to witness Keith Senior being initiated into Freemasonry at Wayfarers Lodge No 7544. This was a particularly special evening as not only was his father Ian acting as junior warden, but his grandfather Ron, who is the current master, performed the ceremony of initiation.
The candidate was conducted around the lodge by the junior deacon, Darren Varley, in a polished manner. The working tools of this degree were well presented by Peter Gaudion, and the charge was delivered in a heartfelt way by Ian Senior, otherwise known as Dad.
The seldom heard presentation of the history of the white gloves was delivered by Joseph Ayrton, and what an excellent job he made of that particular piece of ritual.
At the conclusion of the ceremony, the candidate Keith was congratulated and welcomed into the lodge by the master Ron Senior, otherwise known as Grandad.
The brethren then enjoyed a superb festive board, at which Ron once again welcomed his grandson into Wayfarers Lodge, commenting that he hoped Keith will live many years to enjoy his freemasonry. He added that he hoped to live for at least a few of them to monitor his progress.
In reply, Keith mentioned that he had intended to join a little later in life due to having a young family, but that it was appropriate that he did at this time with Ron being in the chair.
A raffle took place which raised £200 for charities, and at the conclusion of a splendid evening the Tyler’s toast was delivered by Conrad Wright.
