It is often observed that visitors are the lifeblood of Freemasonry and in order to encourage more brethren to visit other lodges, an initiative was set up on the Fylde Coast a few years ago called the Crowd Jewel. A trophy was commissioned and a set of rules drawn up to indicate how a lodge may challenge for this award. In order to qualify, a lodge must have at least 3 members present at the meeting, including the master and a past master.
This prize has been highly sought after over the last few years, and it was to this end that Ian Watson and several other members of Peace and Unity Lodge No 3966, from Cleveleys, ventured out recently to Wyre Lodge No 7704 at Fleetwood Masonic Hall. On this occasion they were to return victorious with the Crowd Jewel.
Any lodge wishing to challenge Ian and his team for this prestigious award should make a date in their diaries for the next meeting of Peace and Unity Lodge on March 27th at Cleveleys Masonic Hall, which happens to be the Installation meeting.
