More than 40 brethren assembled at Cleveleys Masonic Hall to witness Arthur Cartain being installed once again into the WM’s chair of Royal Oak Lodge No 5919.
The principal guest on this occasion was Ian Ward, Chairman of South Fylde Group and he was accompanied by fellow grand officers Keith Jackson and Duncan Smith, Chairman of North Fylde Group.
The regular lodge business was swiftly dispatched by the installing master Mark Mallinson, who proceeded to invite Gordon Hinchcliffe to act as installing senior warden, Stuart Brown to act as installing junior warden and Paul Kimberley to act as installing inner guard. Arthur was then presented by lodge stalwart Arnold Flint.
The master elect was installed in an excellent manner by Mark Mallinson and the working tools were particularly well presented by Arnold Flint, Alex Tomlinson and Russell Forsyth. Arnold Flint delivered the address to Arthur, which was followed by addresses to the wardens by Duncan Smith and the address to the brethren by Ian Ward.
At the conclusion of the installation ceremony, Ian congratulated Mark on the manner in which he had installed Arthur. On behalf of the lodge members, Arthur presented Ian with cheques for charities with a combined total of £1,000, consisting of £200 to the West Lancashire Freemasons’ Charity, £300 to the Tercentenary 2017 Appeal, £225 to Brain Tumour Charity and £275 to Park Special School.
The brethren were treated to a wonderful festive board and in Ian’s response to the toast to grand officers he wished the new master good health and an enjoyable year ahead. A raffle took place which raised £203 for charities. The toast to the newly made master was given by Mark Mallinson and the master’s song was superbly rendered by Roger Lloyd-Jones.
At the conclusion of a marvellous evening the tyler’s toast was presented by Bob Major.
