500 not out at Norcliffe Lodge

Norcliffe Lodge No. 7371 recently celebrated its 500th meeting at Cleveleys Masonic Hall in the presence of North Fylde Group Chairman Duncan Smith. On this auspicious occasion the oldest member of the lodge, Bob Leonard, gave an address to the brethren, including some of his reminiscences over many years.

The lodge was consecrated on 23 March 1955 at Norbreck Hydro Hotel in Blackpool, and the ceremony was led by the then Provincial Grand Master William Sinclair Scott Hannay.

During the anniversary meeting, a description of the menu, together with the wine selection of the consecration banquet, was given by the lodge secretary Peter Clay. It was interesting to note that the celebratory dinner consisted of eight courses!

Norcliffe Lodge’s 500th meeting also included the initiation ceremony of Andrew Offord. The whole evening was rounded off in the festive board by a ‘Burns Supper’ with gentlemen to dine.
