Almost 50 companions and guests of Anchorsholme Chapter No 5854 were delighted to receive Assistant to the Provincial Grand Principals Ian Cuerden as principal guest at their installation meeting at Cleveleys Masonic Hall.
Ian was accompanied by grand officers Ron Weatherill and Keith Jackson, and North Fylde Group Chairman Duncan Smith and South Fylde Group Chairman Ian Ward, together with acting Provincial grand officers Bob Boal, David Barr and Phil Bolton.
The chapter was opened for business by first principal David Britton, second principal James Rashid and acting third principal David Sangster. The three principals elect were presented in turn by the director of ceremonies Martin Linton, with James Rashid being installed as first principal, Andrew Harrison as second principal and John Pitches as third principal.
The robe addresses were delivered in excellent manner by ‘junior companions’ Terry Murtagh, Geoff Diggles and Gavin Egan. A faultless address to the three principals was given by John Chesters and the officers of the chapter were invested. Finally, Ian Cuerden delivered the address to the companions of the chapter.
At the conclusion of the ceremony, Ian Cuerden rose to convey greetings from the Grand Superintendent Tony Harrison and congratulated all who had taken part. He was pleased to receive cheques to the total value of £630, including £200 to the Heart of Gold charity. He thanked the chapter on behalf of the recipients.
The companions retired to a wonderful festive board, at which a raffle raised £207. David Britton proposed the toast to the health of the principals and the song to the three principals was rendered by John Chesters.
At the conclusion of a splendid evening the janitor’s toast was given by Peter Tebbs.
