Almost 60 brethren gathered at Fleetwood Masonic Hall to witness Damon Tait being installed as the new master of Mount Lodge No 6654. The lodge was delighted to receive Stuart Thornber as the representative of the Provincial Grand Master, accompanied on this occasion by North Fylde Group Chairman Duncan Smith, Blackpool Group Chairman John Turpin, John Stevenson and Peter Bentham, supported by acting Provincial grand officer Peter Rumley.
With the regular lodge business dispatched by the master Mike Gaynor, he proceeded to invite David Cook to act as installing senior warden, Duncan Smith to act as installing junior warden and Rodney Sherwood to act as installing inner guard. The master elect Damon Tait was then presented in fine style by David Brown.
Damon was installed in an exemplary manner by Mike Gaynor with assistance from the hard working director of ceremonies Jim Gregson. The working tools were particularly well delivered by Rodney Sherwood, Ronnie Coles and Jon Davies.
David Cook delivered an excellent address to Damon and this was followed by the address to the wardens by Alan Whitehouse, and to conclude the ceremony Stuart Thornber delivered the address to the brethren of the lodge.
Stuart congratulated Damon on becoming the new master and wished him a happy and successful year and good health to enjoy it. On behalf of the lodge, Damon presented Stuart with cheques for charities with a combined total of £1,700, including £700 to the Masonic Charitable Foundation 2021 Festival and £250 to North West Blood Bikers. Stuart thanked the brethren on behalf of the recipients.
The brethren duly retired to the comfortable surroundings of the bar and ultimately the dining room, where they enjoyed a superb meal. A raffle at the festive board raised £340 for charities. Mike Gaynor gave the toast to the newly made master and John Darrell rendered the master’s song. At the conclusion of an excellent evening Rodney Greenall delivered the tyler’s toast.
